Adjustment of the Red Velvet Cake preparation

Do you have the FunCakes Mix for Red Velvet Cake on the shelves or online? Please read this news item carefully. Something has changed in the preparation method.

Due to an adjustment in the production line, it was decided to remove the oil from the mix.

Previously, oil was added to the mix on two occasions: once during production and again by the end user. To make the production line run more efficiently, no more oil is added during production. The end user should therefore add a little more oil than before, namely 12 ml (10 grams) extra. The result is exactly the same red velvet cake. FunCakes guarantees the same taste, colour and texture. Thanks to this adjustment, they increase the production speed of the red velvet mix, so that the stocks of this mix can be better maintained.

How about that?
Since the new packaging, the Mix for Red Velvet Cake is filled on a new production line. This hasn't changed the mix, so no one will have noticed the switch. What FunCakes did find, however, was that the production speed was slightly lower. Not a big difference, but with the large quantities that roll off the belt every day, even a small difference can cause the mix to run out of stock.

Of course FunCakes has looked for a solution that the end user would not notice. For example, by working with slightly different ingredients, so that the machine could produce faster. But that always turned out to have a negative effect on the quality of the mix. So that was not an option.

Removing the oil makes filling the mix on the new production line smoother. Moreover, this is an ingredient that the end user already has to add. By just letting the end user add a little more, the cake remains exactly the same and the production speed is increased again. This should help reduce stock outs for this mix.

All in all, what's different now?

  • The end user adds 12 ml (10 g) extra oil to the mix. For a 20 cm cake, 77 ml (65 g) instead of 65 ml (55 g) oil is now added.
  • Because the oil is no longer added during production, the powder in the bag appears lighter. But when the end user has added the extra amount of oil, the cake will turn as red after baking as it always was.
  • The article numbers change to F10565 (1kg) and F10835 (4kg). The preparation method on the bags with these article numbers is of course adapted to the correct amount of oil.

It is good to point out the adjusted preparation method to your customers from the switch to these new article numbers and to explain the lighter colour of the mix. The above information is also listed on the FunCakes website and is distributed via social media. We recommend that you also mention the news item on the FunCakes website if you have questions from customers. The information is explained there in a way that is understandable to consumers. The news item is published under the news heading in the footer of the FunCakes website, but can also be found via a banner on the homepage.

Finally
We would like to emphasize that the adjustment of the production line has nothing to do with stock-outs on other products. The production speed of other products on this line has remained the same.

However, monitoring the production lines for efficiency and speed, among other things, always has a high priority and FunCakes optimizes these where possible to match production as accurately as possible to demand. This process has only become more important since the explosive increase in demand for our products in recent months.
