Update February 23rd, 2022
European ban on E171
The European Union has banned titanium dioxide (E171) as a food additive in the EU. A six month phasing out period applies from the 7th of February 2022. It is expected that countries like the United Kingdom, Norway and Switzerland will also follow this legislation in the future.
Until the 7th of August 2022, foods produced in accordance with the rules applicable before the 7th of February 2022 may continue to be placed on the market. After that date, they may remain on the market until their date of minimum durability or ‘use by’ date.
We as CakeSupplies have already started phasing out products and replacing them with products not containing E171 (e.g. FunCakes and Sugarflair). This will be an ongoing process. We will carry the E171 products until our stock lasts and our supplier is still supplying us the product. Our customers can sell out those products until the end of shelf life.
To make it easier to identify products containing E171, we have added a column to the downloadable price file in your account. This way you can easily identify the products containing E171.

Update December 17th, 2021
New regulation sales E171
The European Union and Switzerland are planning a ban on food products containing the ingredient E171 from 2022. This is expected to be announced around January 7, 2022. There will be a possible transition period in which the products may still be marketed. As soon as the announcement has been made, we will inform you accordingly.
As long as products with E171 are still in stock and allowed to be sold, they will remain available on our website next year. In addition, we work working closely with our suppliers to include alternative products without E171 in our range as quickly as possible. The first examples of this are already available in our webshop.

Update October 21, 2021
Ban on sale of titanium dioxide
Since January 1, 2020, there is a ban on the sale of products containing the ingredient E171 (titanium dioxide) in France. In the meantime, from 1 January 2022, there will be a ban on the sale of products containing the ingredient E171 throughout the European Union and Switzerland. This ingredient is used in many products to make it white and/or shiny. From 1 January 2022, a transition period of 6 months applies in which the products may still be sold. As long as products are still in stock, they will remain available on our website. As far as possible, we have already replaced many products that contained E171 and continue to work closely with our brands' suppliers to offer alternative products where this is not already the case. These replacements will be available online in our webshop as soon as possible.

Since January 1st, 2020, there is a ban on the sale of products containing the ingredient E171 (titanium dioxide) in France. This ingredient is used in many products to make it white and/or shiny. The sale and use of products with this ingredient is currently still permitted in all other European countries, but there might be a chance that there will be restrictions within the whole of Europe. We do, however, work closely with the suppliers of our brands to replace this ingredient with an alternative product as soon as possible. Due to the existing ban in France, we already have a filter option in place on our website where you can easily find the products without E171. We will keep a close eye on developments regarding this topic and take action in accordance with the decisions of the European Commission. We will keep you informed through our website and newsletters.
